LNG's Sales Volumes and Pricing Drive Growth

Cheniere Energy's LNG revenues increased to $6.10 billion from $4.30 billion in the year-ago quarter. Regasification revenues remained unchanged at $34 million, while other revenues declined to $40 million from $105 million.

The company exported 684 trillion British thermal units (TBtu) of LNG, up 17% year over year. LNG cargo exports increased 15% from 163 in the corresponding quarter of 2025. Total LNG volumes loaded reached 685 TBtu, compared with 586 TBtu a year earlier.

Cheniere's Profitability Improves Despite Cost Pressure

Consolidated adjusted EBITDA increased approximately 18% to $1.90 billion from $1.61 billion in the prior-year quarter. The improvement primarily reflected higher total margins on LNG delivered, supported by stronger volumes and improved margins per MMBtu.

However, total operating costs and expenses climbed to $4.26 billion from $2.62 billion a year earlier. Cost of sales increased to $3.21 billion from $1.75 billion, while operating and maintenance expenses rose to $540 million from $447 million. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased to $112 million from $81 million.

Operating income consequently increased 5.4% to $1.92 billion.

LNG's Cash Flow and Balance Sheet Position

Cheniere generated distributable cash flow (DCF) of approximately $1.23 billion during the third quarter, compared with approximately $1.61 billion in the year-ago period. DCF represents cash available for debt reduction, shareholder distributions and growth investments after certain operating and financing obligations.

As of Sept. 30, 2026, the company had cash and cash equivalents of $1.66 billion, compared with $1.10 billion at the end of 2025. Long-term debt amounted to $22.58 billion, while total available liquidity stood at approximately $8.08 billion.

Cheniere Advances Expansion and Commercial Projects

In August 2026, Cheniere achieved substantial completion of Midscale Train 7 at its Corpus Christi Stage 3 Project, completing the development ahead of schedule and within budget. The project expanded the company's LNG production capacity by more than 20%.

Meanwhile, construction of Corpus Christi Midscale Trains 8 and 9 was 58.6% complete as of Sept. 30. These facilities are expected to add approximately 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of production capacity, with substantial completion anticipated in the second half of 2028.

Commercially, Cheniere entered into long-term agreements with QatarEnergy in October to supply up to 4 mtpa of LNG through 2054. Additionally, the company signed an agreement with Petrobras in September to supply 0.8 mtpa for 22 years.
